Wellness Tips: 8 Things That Change Your Life In One Year

Hello Lovelies,

This blogpost is both in English and in French. English version comes first, and is then translated into French.

Version française ci-dessous.

So... here is a gentle reminder of  8 daily habits that could deeply change your life. Practicing daily is key. I lead by example and do this myself. Hope this helps you faithful readers, too!

Here's the original text I found on Pinterest:

I decided to add/edit it slightly, so here goes:

8 good habits that change your life in one year

* stop complaining and start feeling grateful: appreciate how lucky you are everyday (to be alive, to be able to breathe, walk and other everyday miracles...)

* embrace loneliness and reinvent yourself in the process (solitude is a good thing)

* say goodbye to the people who do not bring positive energy into your life

* throw off the TV and set internet controls, as well as a limiting app on your smartphone

* pick one skill you want to cultivate and put all your effort into developing it

* commit to the goals you set and never look back

* sweat every day to boost your mood

* fail forward. learn from every mistake you make

Hello Lovelies.

Let's start in English, French version below.

I just opened an "Aging Gracefully" board on Pinterest and this is the first blogpost I'll link to this pinboard. Please note this is about personal advice I apply myself daily in order to practice healthy living (the aim is to age as gracefully as humanly possible and to live a life well-lived, of course). This is not in any way medical advice. Please check with your physician before undertaking any new kind of exercise.

So I do the 10 minutes' long qi gong morning routine developed by Lee Holden to start the day with more energy and focus:

There's an evening version, too, if interested. I do this gentle exercise right after I shower, and before I sip a nice cup of tea and have an Israeli-type breakfast (more about this yummy and healthy Middle Eastern meal in another blogpost).

Enjoy!

How do you scent your home? 2022 Edition

Hello Lovelies,

When at home, I use a thrifted small vase (see insta image below) that I fill with a mix of natural aromas available at aroma-zone.com, like the "body butter" mix, and lily-of-the-valley ("la fée muguet" in French) natural aroma. Then I use a flower-shaped ceramic diffuser on top. This is for the living room.

Another #vignette with #book #brass hoop for #diy #wreath and a small #celadon #ceramic #cup filled with #barley and a few #drops of #esssential #oils in order to diffuse a pleasant #scent in my #home

When traveling, I use small stone-shaped porous ceramic pebbles and put a few drops of essential oils on them. Grapefruit oil is a mood-boosting favorite. Or I use a ready-to-use mix that smells of orange blossom. Pebbles, essential oils and aromatic mix, all available at aroma-zone.com

For my home-office, I use a diffuser with aromatic, energizing scents, like a few drops of rosemary essential oil, lemon oil and sweet orange oil.

I love scented candles too, of course. I like the plain vanilla-scented ones from IKEA in the kitchen

In the bathroom, I spray on my hand towels a bit of "Hanori" perfume, which I like as a room freshener, and not so much as a skin perfume. It is a bit too heavy for me to wear, as I much prefer lighter, citrusy scents on my skin, like "Eau de Rochas", a summer classic.

I also found a UK-based oragnic soy candles maker, will tell you more soon.

Enjoy!

How to Feel Good About Your Home This January

Hey Lovelies,

I found this great article on houzz - it's short, practical and with great photos!

And so, here's what I did so far:

1/ Buy fresh flowers

I bought some inexpensive daffodils, their dash of yellow now brightens my living room. A nice alternative is a big bowl of paperwhites, as shown above.

2/ Fill your rooms with scent

I just bought this morning a gingerbread-scented candle, and put it in my entryway, which is an other wise cold and bland room in my house. The spicy scent makes it so much more inviting, and so is the warmth of a candlelight.

3/ Tweak the lighting

Bought some fairy lights (20 globes by La case du cousin Paul, very affrodable) and hung it on my bookshelf, in the living-room. also bought a Krusning pendant lampshade from IKEA, now hanging high in my kitchen.

4/ Take your kitchen on a health kick

I'm tackling this particular room in order tocook more often (and better) at home. It's a big, ongoing project.

5/ Do a January cleanup

I've started right away and my bathroom is the first room I tackled. It looks nice and tidy. Plus the color code is white/taupe with turquoise accents, including a wooden handkerchief box I DIY on my own.

My entryway is also clean now, and pulled together with artwork on the walls, and a scented candle to welcome guests.

6/ Explore your collections

It's the fun part! ;-)

The Protea Flower

Here's a new, exotic, sophisticated flower I'd love to have more often as a bouquet on my writing desk.

Below: The Protea is on Julie Dutton's dining table (of Studio Olivine fame). via

It's called a "Protea" and comes from South Africa. Here it appears in a decor designed by Nicole Franzen:
